4043 Filler Rod

AWS/SFA 5.10 ER4043 UNS A94043 contains 5% silicon which provides high fluidity to the molten weld metal during welding. That is why it is used for general purpose applications. it is used for the welding heat-treatable base alloys specifically, the 6XXX series alloys. It is recommended for welding alloys: 3003, 3004, 5052, 6061, 6063 and casting alloys: 43, 355, 356 and 214 and the produced welds are less sensitive to weld cracking. ER4043 produces welds with fair ductility and minimum tensile strength of 14000 psi.

5356 Filler Rod

AWS/SFA 5.10 ER5356 UNS95356 welding wire contains 5% magnesium. It is used for general-purpose applications and designed for the welding of 5XXX series alloys, when the tensile strength is not required to be more than 40000 psi. The produced welds offer much better corrosion resistance when exposed to salt water. ER5356 produces welds with an average tensile strength of 40000 psi in the as welded conditions.

ER309/ER309L Filler Rod

AWS/SFA 5.9 ER309/ER309L UNS S30980 is stainless steel filler wire and used for GTAW, GMAW and SAW welding processes. ER309 is usually used for welding similar metals containing 24Cr and 13Ni, in wrought iron form and sometimes, it is used to weld type 304 and similar base metals in high sever corrosion environments that require weld metals with high corrosion resistance. This alloy can also be used to weld type 304 to carbon steel, welding the clad side of type 304 clad steels, and apply stainless steel linings to carbon steel shells. The L letter in the filler designation refers to the low carbon content which is 0.08 max to prevent sensitization of weld metal which happens due to high carbon content which combines with chromium forming chromium carbides around grain boundaries and causing depletion of chromium content below the protection limit (10.5 % Cr) which consequently causes corrosion at these areas during service.

ER308/ER308L Filler Rod

AWS/SFA 5.9 ER308/ER308L UNS S30883 is a stainless-steel wire used with GTAW, GMAW and SAW welding processes. ER308 rods are suitable for welding alloys AISI types: 304L, 321, 347 in addition to 308 stainless steel alloys. ER308L are wires of low carbon content not exceeding 0.03% and are commonly used for welding the previously mentioned alloys to decrease the chromium carbide formation and consequently decrease the intergranular corrosion that is why this type of welding rods is used in welding structures of facilities of synthetic fiber industry, fertilizer industry and petrochemical industry that fabricated by 00Cr19Ni10 stainless steel.
